Interest in food has reached a fever pitch. With the opening of Fork Food Lab and the Federal designation of the Greater Portland Sustainable Food and Beverage Cluster as a Manufacturing Community (IMCP), entrepreneurs across the state have been inspired to start businesses. We have created the Portland Food Festival as an annual event that will invigorate more food businesses to start up and scale.
What makes food so special is its universality as an experience. A food entrepreneur is a person who decides to take that experience and turn it into a viable business. In the modern era of technology, being well educated and on the forefront of new practices is essential to keep Maine a strong food state.
